9/4/24;

Our heroes (A midget [by-dragonborn standards at least] bard, a ‘normal’ dragonborn cleric; a human wizard and an half-orc fighter, who happens to be an alcoholic, as if that’s a surprise) set off from the small town of Poaret after a night of drinking debauchery. Much to their surprise, and probably because they were still hung-over, they were ambushed by a set of bandits. After a fight that lasted way too long, two death and near-death experiences, the team relied on the wizard to win the day. That being said, they decided to take a long rest, recover a bit, and perhaps sober up. Unfortunately, their rest was interrupted by a downpour. When they finally decided to arise, they found all their food was gone. Determined to keep marching on, they decide to march through the night to regain some lost time. Their first encounter was with a handful of skeletons, which were easily thawed, followed by a sticky situation with a giant spider, entangling our fighter for the duration of the battle. All made it out alive (although barely). Sleeping near dawn, they were able to rise near mid-day only to discover the bridge they were to take was gone and the roaring river below, still agitated by the previous day’s storm, made fordding impossible. Using his skills as an archer, the half-orc was able to fire lines across in order to make the crossing (which was probably better than attempting to toss the small dragonborn across the 40ft chasm…). The bard was able to shimmy across the lines, but when it was time for the wizard, he had taken a tumble (what wizard doesn’t have feather fall prepared?!?!). Fortunately, the fighter was able to toss a rope to the near drowning wizard, saving him from certain peril. Hanging onto an outstretched tree limb for dear life, the wizard awaited the two large men crossing the gap to pull him to safety. The two were more than able to make the climb and pull the young wizard to safety. With the gala at the mysterious Keep just a night and a day away, we hope our adventurous can make it through the trails of southern Aundair….

Intro;

You are in the world of Eberon, currently on the continent Khorvaire, In Aundair outside the city of Larunor, in the Town Poaret. You have been lodging at a local Golden Dragon Inn, Bronckman’s Restoration, for the past couple of days and have just been approached by Sergeant Germaine Vilroy of the Sharon Watch. She has been taking leave from the great city of Sharn to visit old friends in teaching magic at Arcanix. Noting your heroic party make-up, she propositions you for a quick investigation. She has been noticing interesting activity coming from the smaller towns and villages outside Vanguard Keep.  You have been advised that outside of town is a local keep that has been offering up parties and incentives to the local community for many years, including some very charitable works of philanthropy, especially during the Last War. Sergeant Vilroy notes her concern that she is not aware of any great sources of income to the keep or surrounding villages and is not aware of any great Dragonmarked houses nor Aurum in the area. She has concern that there is something sinister going on at this noble’s residence, but has to return to Sharn and cannot investigate herself. She understands there is a gala occurring in 3 days’ time and it’s a 2 day walk to the keep. She requests your help in determining what exactly is going on inside this noble’s keep. She offers tonight’s stay at the Inn in Money, a magic Scroll of Sending to report back any findings, and an offer to introduce your team’s Patron of choice for sponsorship: the Sharn Watch (Inquisitive Agency), Clifftop Adventure’s Guild (Adventure Guild), or Redcloak Battalion (Military Force). She was a great influence across all these through time in service to Khorvaire. She mentions that she has made the same offer to other seemingly worthy heroes, so there might be some allies, or potential competition afoot. With that, she leaves some coin and the scroll and takes leave and continues her trek towards her home of Sharn.
